In summer 2021, the XXXII Summer Olympic Games and the XVI Summer Paralympic Games will be held in Tokyo, which is hosting the Games for the second time. These
international sporting events were postponed one year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the names were left unchanged. The Olympic Games in 2021 will feature 339 events in 33 sports, including 5 new ones, with some 11,000 athletes participating in total. Similar to the team sent to Rio de Janeiro in 2016, the Hungarian Olympic Team is expected to number 150–160 athletes. In the Paralympics, athletes will compete in 540 events in 22 sports.
Front:The front of the coin shows an abstract representation of kayaking, swimming and fencing, three very successful sports for Hungary’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes. The kayaker, swimmer and wheelchair fencer are depicted as forms broken down into geometric planes and also signify the cooperation and integration of the two Hungarian teams. The master mark of designer Zoltán Endrődy is located beneath the depiction of the wheelchair fencer.The compulsory design elements: the inscription ‘MAGYARORSZÁG’, the value numerals ‘2000’, the mint mark ‘BP’ and the mint year ‘2021’ are also on the obverse.
