As culture carriers and a means of communication, coins function as a sort of time capsules. The Annual Set The Netherlands 2023 in Proof Quality are all about the element water. The power and importance of water is shown on the medal: a paper boat drifts firmly in the turbulent waves. This medal is specially designed to be part of this set and is not available separately. 70% of the earth is water: all oceans, seas, rivers and streams are part of it. Water is a powerful element that is always moving. Water also brings along challenges, because of pollution, shortage or excess of water due to flooding. But water is also vitally important. Because of this element, a good soil fertility is possible, plants and crops are growing and both people and animals receive nutrition. Besides that, water creates biodiversity, which is very important for the future of our planet.
