Kiskunság National Park Founded in 1975 as Hungary’s second national park, the Kiskunság National Park is a monument to centuries of coexistence between man and nature. For the park’s 45th anniversary, Hungary is issuing a 10,000-forint silver and a 2,000-forint copper-nickel coin, the fifth in the ‘National Parks of Hungary’ series . On the obverse is an eating scooper, standing in the water with its mirror image also appearing. Due to its special needs in terms of habitat, the bird offers a perfect symbol of the saline lakes typically found in the park. The reverse shows a typical feature in the park, shifting sand dunes rippled from the edge in the Fülöpháza Sand Dunes, complemented with a few trees and bushes. These dunes of only 5000 acres, preserve the old features of the Homokhátság, the plateau between the Danube and Tisza River valleys.
