A silver 10,000 forint coin with gold rim and a copper-nickel one of 2,000 forint were issued to commemorate Hungary’s first Summer and Winter Olympics gold medals on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the Hungarian Olympic Committee’s founding. The obverse shows the Winter Olympic gold medal race that was won by the short track speed skating 5000m Men’s relay at the Winter Games in Pyeongchang in 2018. There are four speed skaters racing in their heat – two are in the front and two in the background as shadows. The reverse represents the success of Alfréd Hajós in the 1896 Summer Games in Athens where he won the 100m and 1200m swimming in the 52-56 degree Farenheit sea waves. On the back of the coin there is a swimmer, swimming in the sea in a 19th century swim suit, accompanied by two men in a boat in the background. |
