Established in 1870 as the National Assembly’s independent financial controller, the State Audit Office has been monitoring public finances for one and a half centuries. Its operation was ended in 1949, but following the political transition in 1989, the State Audit Office has been the financial guarantor of Hungary’s democracy since 1990.
The front of the coin is a drawing of part of the earlier building of the Royal Hungarian Audit Office. The other side has the official logo of the office.
