This children's news program was first broadcast on January 5, 1981. It was only on school days and 7 minutes long. It is now on TV daily expanded to 20 minutes. It is one of the longest-running children's news programs in the world. It addresses topics in a clear and child-friendly way and lets viewers express their opinion. During elections, schoolchildren are allowed to interview party leaders. The program has won various prizes over the years.
Artist Gabriel Lester's design was inspired by the distortions and imperfections that sometimes occur in a television picture: glitches. King Willem-Alexander is portrayed on the obverse in a two tone portrait, giving the impression that it has glitches. This gives it an electric character. The reverse shows a globe, the symbol of the daily world news. The same glitch effect is applied to this image, making the coin as a whole reminiscent of a television screen.
