Hungarian Proof Set Celebrates 75 Years of the Forint
6 Special Coins Included with the Regular 2021 Proof Set
2021 was a special year for Hungarian coinage as it was the 75th anniversary of the forint. In commemoration, six collector versions of the 5-forint circulation coin were issued, each featuring a section of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank’s building from an angle. When placed in the correct order the letters on the six coins form the word ‘FORINT.’ The unique typeface evokes the ones used in 1946, marking the anniversary.
12 million circulation coins were made, but there are only 1,750 in proof, and only in this special version of the 2021 proof set.
