Netherlands Silver Ducat 2011 - North Holland. Proof The Silver Ducat was first struck in 1659. The current versions are issued twice a year, with each coin dedicated to a different province. The traditional design always featured an anonymous knight on the obverse, but the current series differs in that the obverse portrays an important historical figure in the province’s history. The two coins this year are for North Holland and depicts Count Floris V (1254-96), and Zeeland which shows the most famous admiral in Dutch naval history, Michiel de Ruyter (1607-76).
