Centennial of the Birth of Georges Simenon Although his most famous character, Detective Inspector Maigret was from Paris, Simenon was one of most famous Belgian authors of the 20th century. He wrote over 200 novels, most translated into dozens of languages and over fifty adapted for television and the large screen.
