150th anniversary of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service. The state-of-the-art maritime search and rescue service has been saving the lives of the shipwrecked on the high seas for 150 years. With a fleet of 60 lifeboats, the search and rescue units are involved in more than 2,000 search and rescue operations in the North Sea and Baltic Sea each year. Around 1,000 search and rescue volunteers operate 54 stations along the coast of Germany.
